Questions to Ask A Private Pet Cremation Provider

River Valley Pet Cremation Society • September 30, 2026

Here are the big questions you should ask.

How do I know my pet will be privately cremated?

Do you cremate on-site?

Will my pet be tracked, and how?

Can I tour your facility?

Can I witness my pet's cremation?

We understand that one of the biggest concerns families have is whether their beloved pet is truly receiving a private cremation. That's why we have strict procedures in place to ensure your pet is cared for individually and respectfully throughout the entire process. All deceased pets that come to the River Valley Pet Cremation Society are privately cremated in our on-site pet crematory.

From the moment your pet comes into our care, they are assigned a unique identification tag that remains with them throughout every step of the cremation process. This identification system allows us to maintain continuous tracking and accountability. Identification documentation also accompanies your pet throughout the process.

For private cremations, only one pet is placed in the cremation chamber at a time. Once the cremation is complete, the ashes are carefully collected and returned to your family in the selected urn. You will also receive a certificate of cremation bearing the same identification tag number your pet was assigned upon arrival.

You can tour our facility ahead of time and witness your pet being placed into the crematory. These details can provide additional reassurance that your pet's dignity and your trust matter to us.

When we say "private cremation," we mean exactly that—your pet is cremated individually, and the ashes returned to you are those of your beloved companion.

We welcome questions about our process because we believe transparency builds trust. Our commitment is to treat every pet with the same dignity, respect, and individual care that we would want for our own human companions.
