Milton “Brewer” Stromberg passed away peacefully at home on October 13, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Born June 17, 2011, in Clintonville, Wisconsin, Brewer joined our family that August and made us a family of three. From that day forward, he was a constant and joyful presence in our lives—so much so that he was there for our engagement and even stole the spotlight in our engagement photos.
Over the years, Brewer moved with us from Roseville to New Brighton and finally to Prescott. In his younger days, he was bound and determined not to stay put in any enclosure we tried—earning him the nickname “Houdini.” He patiently tolerated a season of Mom dressing him in shirts, costumes, and sweatshirts for every occasion. He lived through three kids and three other pets joining the household, often with his trademark grumbles, and even went through a teenage rebellion phase where he’d wander away from home—mostly, we think, for attention.
Brewer’s favorite hobbies included barking, eating, and napping. He was a master at finding the coziest places to sleep: piles of blankets, stuffed animals, piles of clothes, and open suitcases were all fair game. When he got older, he even had a few ramps made for him so he could still get up on a few beds. Brewer was also the champion of snatching food from those silly enough to leave food unattended. Whole pieces of pizza or multiple chicken nuggets would be gone before you would even notice. He especially loved the high-chair years, patiently waiting beneath for any dropped morsel. He could vacuum a kitchen floor like no other. One of his most surprising skills was husking corn—every summer, he’d get a cob or two and go to town, tail wagging.
Grandma Cheri and Grandpa Mike’s house in Webster, Wisconsin, was Brewer’s second home. He loved the car ride up and somehow always knew when we were close—waking from his nap to poke his head out the window, getting more and more anxious as the minutes ticked by. He explored every inch of their yard, marking his territory and chasing away any critters that wandered in, fearless as ever. His favorite part of Webster was sleeping with Grandpa Mike, often giving him “the look” when it was time to turn in for the night.
Brewer was a tough little guy – having more than “nine lives.” A few of his close calls included surviving a bike basket incident, being hit by a golf ball, and even a severe gallbladder attack. Stubborn until the end, he bravely fought off a wild animal in the backyard before returning home to his family to say goodbye.
Throughout his 14 years, Brewer earned many nicknames: Brewer-buddy, Brew Crew, Old Man, Brew, Mighty Hunter and Joe, to name a few. He is survived by his loving family, Aaron and Caitlin; his human siblings, Addison, Ava, and Reagan; his pet siblings, Daisy, Remi, and Pepper “Meow-Meow”; his grandparents; aunties; and many friends and family members who made him feel loved.
The tick-tick-tick of his nails on the floor, the clinking of his collar tags, the death stare at dinner time, and his joyful runs down the driveway to greet us will be deeply missed. His unconditional love carried us through every season of life.
Rest well, Brewer. Keep everyone company in heaven until we see you again—waiting at the gates with tail wags and kisses.
