Berklee, you were our favorite hello and our hardest good-bye. In March 2008 we made the decision to welcome you to our family. When we picked you up from the place you were born, you snuggled right into our necks. We believe you picked us too.

Our investigation into what kind of dog we wanted was right on. You were a beautiful black, brown and tan Morkie (Maltese/Yorkie mix) who was loving right from the start. You weighed a little over 2 pounds. You snuggled into your kennel for the ride home and fell asleep.

You grew easily and were a caring and kind dog who loved humans better than other dogs. When you went to puppy school you were always the fastest dog between two points. You outran even the bigger dogs and always the smaller dogs. Obedience training was fun and you learned a great deal but it wasn’t always your strongest suit or ours.

When we went to the Woodbury dog park for small dog meet-ups you always got the other small dogs running and then would jump on the bench with the humans and sit comfortably watching the other dogs. You would periodically jump off and get the other dogs going again and then return to the bench for humans.

You also loved the dog park in Rosemount where there was grass, trees, paths, and many smells to sniff. You liked running between your owners, Marilee Anderson and Karyl Frye, and would run and run as many times as you could.Berklee also went on many walks with her owner, Karyl, on the paths of our home in Hastings, MN. She didn’t always like the leash and wanted to sniff more and explore, but we had many wonderful walks.

How did Berklee get her name? Karyl had a good friend whose daughter’s name was spelled Berkley. Marilee’s son in law suggested that since Marilee’s career is in music, naming her Berklee after the Berklee School of Music in Boston.

One of her favorite activities was licking Karyl’s nose! The activity she loved best with Marilee was sleeping on her lap. She adored many of our friends and always greeted and played with them when they came to visit.

On March 31 at approximately 6:20 you peacefully went to the Rainbow Bridge. I know you and your Mom’s - Marilee and Karyl will always hold each other lovingly in our hearts. You were always the kindest and most loving creature of God. Have lots of wonderful runs in your your new home!
